I pray today that God will fill you with His wisdom that you will know God’s ways and how to live by them that you will use what God is giving you correctly and that you will know life in God. Seek God and His wisdom and you will find His favor and life. Proverbs 8 draws upon the rich imagery found in Genesis 1 and brings a new level of understanding to the creation narrative. She is God’s wisdom personified, and Scripture tells us she was present with God in the beginning, helping to bring order out of chaos. Gain the life that God wants to give you.ĭo not allow yourself to ignore wisdom and make poor choices that bring about death. This brings us to Proverbs 8, where we meet Lady Wisdom. Use it wisely for His glory and purpose in your life. Seek to know how to use what information God has allowed you to learn. How you use that knowledge is found in wisdom. You are just like others in having gained some knowledge, knowledge of God and this world. Not having wisdom will cause one to make choices that will only lead to sin and death. Those who do not find wisdom or refuse to seek for it, will harm themselves and others. Once wisdom is found, one learns how to really live a full life for God and to apply His word to his life. Many scriptures are often taken out of context or used to harm someone. They can quote scripture with ease, but don’t always use wisdom in how to apple those scriptures. People are very quick to seek knowledge, going to college, searching on Google, watching YouTube videos, but are slow at seeking wisdom with the information that they find.īelievers are often in the same way. It is easy for people to gain knowledge, but often people do not use it correctly. Wisdom is being able to use information or knowledge correctly. Those who do not find wisdom harm themselves and gain death. Those who find it gain life and God’s favor. They will grab for whatever is available, paying to attention to the cost or dangers involved.Īs Solomon talks about seeking and gaining wisdom, he points out the value in finding wisdom. In the process of seeking life, many throw all caution to the side. Proverbs 8 Commentary Solomon's 'wise person' acts a lot like a disciple of Jesus. In our passage, Solomon will tell us what wisdom 'looks like' in daily life. They want what everyone else has and is doing. And the 'self-help' they pursue above all is godly wisdom. People want to do the latest and greatest thing. Calling All Creation to Praise Psalm 148 is a call for the whole cosmos to praise God. They seek to find and do things that are enjoyable and full of life, or appear to be full of life. Most people want to live and want to live a full life. But those who fail to find me harm themselves all who hate me love death. “Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord. Choose to be wise by choosing to immerse your life in studying and applying God’s teachings. Ethics, virtues, and values are formed as we devote ourselves to God’s Word and His ways, but it is our choice. Lessons on living strong when times are tough and examples of how to overcome are everywhere. Wisdom, inspiration, and encouragement are on every page. Rich discoveries are made every time I open His Book. The spiritual discipline of personal Bible study is vital, and it is also a joy. God’s Word teaches us God’s Wisdom and leads us to live out God’s Ways. Proverbs 4:7 (King James Version) Proverbs Worksheets Chapter 1-31 is for all Bible study groups. After calling to all classes of men to come and be wise, Wisdom praises in the first person her own moral excellence and value. Prioritizing Scripture with the intent to apply and practice its teachings is how we gain godly wisdom. Wisdom is the principal thing therefore get wisdom: and with all thygetting get understanding. Proverbs Chapter 8 In contrast to the evil woman of chapter 7, another woman is presented: Wisdom personified again as a prophetess whose call the son should heed. Reading regularly, studying daily, memorizing, and meditating often. God’s wisdom is “more valuable than riches.” “More important than anything else you can desire.” How do we bankroll wisdom? How do we become wise? How do we establish a rich database of wisdom and knowledge? How do we learn to make wise decisions consistently? How do we become wise people? One way: God’s Word.
